And the winner is.....On Friday, October 10TH, in Oslo, Norway the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize will be announced. As you know, the Lions Club International Foundation was nominated, by former U.S. President Jimmie Carter, also a LION. The Nobel Peace Prize has been awared to 95 individuals and 20 organizations since 1901. Some of the past winners have been:Mother Teresa, Desmond Tutu, United Nations Peacekeeping Organization and ,in 2002, Lion Jimmie Carter, PDG. Great company - Let's hope LCIF becomes part of that group. The prizes were begun by Alfred Nobel, pictured to the left. Click on the Nobel button for a look at Alfred Nobel - an interesting man. * Some tidbits about LCIF: In July 2007 "The Financial Times" named, out of 34 organiztions, LCIF the #1 NGO(nongovernmental organization) in the world. *
A 7.5 million dollar grant was awarded to the SightFirst II campaign by Global Health and Education Founation. *
